Ballet of Planets is a response to the ISTD brief to celebrate the theme of the Line. The theme is a response to the perception of space, particularly our very own Solar System, examining the invisible lines such as Orbit, gravitational pull, field of view and distance. The aim of this publication is to create an appreciation for our own planet as well as produce curiosity within the audience.
This book is split into eight different chapters, one for each planet; each page represents a unit of measurement relative to the distance to one another. As there isn’t enough space to produce an exact replica, the repetition of signage reminds the reader of how far each chapter is away from the sun. AU refers to astronomical units, meaning 1 AU equates to the average distance from the Sun to the Earth. The use of type plays a part in describing the vastness of space as well as the scale.
